Nursing Home Jobs II

Nursing Home Jobs II

According to statistics, the average lifespan of human beings has increased considerably. Statistics further show that over 60% of primary adult visits are by patients aged 65 years old and above. 48% of hospital admissions are also by the same age range and 85% of nursing home residents are of the same age range as well.

The Occupational Health and Safety Administration also released a forecast that by the year 2020, the need for nursing professionals to occupy nursing home jobs will greatly increase by as much as 66%. This will mean a huge nursing home jobs vacancy in not more than 13 years from now. What's more home health nursing hobs such as "managed care" nursing home jobs, will experience even higher demand increases. Projections show that the increase will be substantially more than 250% of the current standing.

These statistical trending all point out that nursing home training is a very viable field of employment in the near future. Currently, many nursing homes are looking for employees to fill a host of vacancies and this trend will only increase according to statistics. Thus, nursing home jobs are very lucrative career paths.

Nursing home jobs cater to several types of nursing work. Certain advances in gerontology have resulted in several different arrangements for the aged to be taken care of by professional nurses.

In some cases, seniors do not need nursing care round the clock. All that is necessary is minimal nursing supervision for whatever medical care they may need. In some communities, an on site nurse is hired in order to take care of several seniors. This is most common among seniors housing units.

The nurse only needs to visit their patients regularly for a few moments a day, checking their medication and making sure that they are up to date in their medication intake. They will need to coordinate with the doctor's of each patient for the medication that each patient will take. This type of nursing home job has a generally good pay scale and the hours of work are also closer to those of a regular work week compared to other nursing home jobs.

Another lucrative nursing home job is in continuing care retirement community nursing (CCRC). A CCRC lets its senior members live in their own apartments with the purpose of encouraging their individual independence. The nursing home job required in a CCRC setting is similar to that of a head nurse in a hospital. The nurse is expected to care for each individual resident of the CCRC.

Not all nursing home jobs are related to care for the elderly, however. A nursing home job is also necessary in rehabilitation facilities. Current trends in medical care have patients who need long term rehabilitation care released to either rehabilitation centers or to convalescent homes. This is done in order to minimize health care costs for the patients. Nursing home jobs for these kinds of patients often involve working with patients recovering from severe injuries or undergoing long term therapy. Most nursing home positions involved include floor nurses, charge nurses and nursing assistants.
